An online devotional for writers
While knowledge makes us feel important, it is love that strengthens the church. (1 Corinthians 8:1, NLT)
A Brigham Young University study of 308,849 participants concluded that people with strong social connections have a 50% greater chance of living longer.
That explains why we’re attracted to social media. People hunger for interaction.
A well-written social media post can help build strong, positive social connections that can extend our physical lives.
A biz or an individual can choose from plenty of options to strengthen connections. Businesses post on social media to raise brand awareness … get more “shares” and “likes” … improve conversion rates … improve customer satisfaction. An individual writes a social media post to stay in touch with family and friends … get attention … get positive feedback … or even debate with other users.
But while strong social connections are instrumental in longevity, not all social interactions are edifying. Negative interactions with people can be destructive and tear you down.
Scripture says, “While knowledge makes us feel important, it is love that strengthens the church” (1 Corinthians 8:1, NLT).
Social media can be an avenue for both strengthening and destruction. You can write a social media post that demeans or diminishes another. Or … you can use your post to edify others and strengthen your connections with them.
Do that, the experts say, and you’ll live longer. And so will they.
Do that, says scripture, and you’ll build the kingdom.
Write social media posts that strengthen others.
Loving Father,
Our world does so much to pull people down. Let me do the opposite. Strengthen me to write words that build connections and edify others.
In Jesus’s name, Amen.
