An online devotional for writers
I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will guide you with knowledge and understanding. (Jeremiah 3:15, NLT)
Only one-third of online marketers and writers send a weekly email or email newsletter to readers. Yet more than 4 billion people in the world use email every day.
Does anyone but me see the disconnect? If you don’t publish an email newsletter, you could be missing an opportunity to encourage you readers, equip them with good information, extend your reach, and communicate your message.
Your email newsletter builds a dedicated fan base because it offers valuable information about your unique niche. Maybe it’s “Stroke Survivor’s Tip of the Week.” Or “DIY Homeowner Weekly Report.”
By sending useful information at a regular interval, your readers see that you’re a reliable source. You raise awareness about your products, services, or your cause, which in turn equips users. So, when it comes time for readers to purchase a product or service in your niche, who will they turn to? You.
In Jeremiah 3, the Lord promises the struggling Israelites that He will provide them with shepherds. These guides will offer helpful knowledge about a specific topic – walking in faith – so God’s people can get on track. Clearly that’s not a topic that can be addressed in one sitting. The shepherds continued to deliver insights to the people consistently over time.
You’re like those shepherds. And your email newsletter is one of your delivery vehicles. It offers useful information and insight to readers about your special topic, delivered on a consistent basis over time.
Your email newsletter delivers consistent, reliable information about a specific topic.
Gracious Father,
Thank you for faithful shepherds and writers who have gone before me and have helped others with valuable information. Show me how to create content that is useful to my particular group of readers.
In Jesus’s name, Amen.
